Barry is an aging, well-to-do Bible scholar and frustrated artist, emotionally stifled by his sexless marriage to well-known Aussie televangelist Gloria (Wendy Hughes), who peddles a lucrative brand of Christianity and self-help merchandising. To relieve his frustration, Barry begins visiting Russian immigrant and heart-of-gold hooker Irina who is hoping to finance a trip home to Vladivostok to see her 5-year-old daughter. A wryly acidic tale from eccentric Aussie arthouse director Paul Cox, who also finds small but precious roles for Aussie favourites Barry Humphries, Bud Tingwell and Kim Gyngell.
