In the wake of the Pope's death, Cardinals start getting knocked off, but not in the usual clean-cut mode of assassinations; these victims leave clues to their killer's identity in the type of cunning way that only insiders, and a certain nerdy symbologist, can identify. Robert Langdon races between Rome's landmarks, always one step behind the ruthless murderer, in this thriller that ups the pace considerably from the first film. The inscrutable European support cast includes Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard and Armin Mueller-Stahl.
