Celebrated screenwriter Charlie Kaufman ('Being John Malkovich', 'Adaptation') tries his hand at directing with this tale of frustrated theatre director Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman). Tired of catering to the blue rinse brigade in upstate New York, Cotard heads into the Big Apple, rents a warehouse space and attempts to mount a meaningful and brutally honest production. Kaufman's special brand of blackly humourous eccentricty is evident as art and reality blur and Cotard's real life begins to fall under the sway of his artistic endeavour. Stunning cast includes Catherine Keener, Samantha Morton, Emily Watson, Dianne Wiest, Hope Davis and Jennifer Jason Leigh. And it's pronounced sih-neck-doh-kee, by the way.
