The Naked City

When a beautiful young model is found dead in her apartment, the police initially suspect it was suicide. But after the coroner discovers it was murder, the two officers become embroiled in an investigation which escalates into a violent manhunt as more and more shady suspects are uncovered. Master noir craftsman Jules Dassin and newspaperman-cum-producer Mark Hellinger's dazzling police procedural was shot entirely on location in New York. As influenced by Italian neorealism as American crime fiction, this double Academy Award winner remains a benchmark for naturalism in noir.
