Director JJ Abrams ('Lost') takes the iconic franchise back to the beginning - way back, to when James Tiberius Kirk was just a babe in arms. Hitting the mark with die-hard fans, as well as newcomers, this action-packed blockbuster satisfies trekkie aficianados with plenty of in-jokes and references, while keeping up the pace and going easy on the techno-babble. Bristling with excitement and energy, this eleventh film entry in the series makes a 40-year-old concept feel fresh. New faces with familiar names include Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Simon Pegg as Scotty, and our own Karl Urban as Dr 'Bones' McCoy.
