The true story of American-born Dr. Hawley Harvey Crippen (Donald Pleasence ), who was hanged in London in 1910 for poisoning his wife, Belle (Coral Browne), so he could be with his young lover, the darkly beautiful Ethel Le Neve (Samantha Eggar). As the adulterous couple fled England, Belle's dismembered remains are discovered in the coal cellar. Billed as the crime of the century at the time - but was Crippen really guilty?
