Shortly after he is robbed, beaten and left for dead on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, homeless Hsiao-kang is taken in by kindly immigrant Rawang and nursed back to health. As the drifter gets back on his feet, he develops feelings for beautiful coffee shop waitress Chyi. When the three get involved in a love triangle, their lives and relationships are forever changed.
