The Heart of the Earth

Lavish historical epic begins with the brutal oppression of Spanish workers in the Rio Tinto coppermines in 1887. Owned by a British company, the mines are emitting toxic fumes but manager Mr Crown (Bernard Hill) could care less. When a Cuban revolutionary starts to stir up trouble amongst the workers, he simply has the protestors murdered. Fifteen years later, a new manager is taking over and finds himself faced with the same problem; only he has become romantically entangled with two local women, so will he be a tyrant or will he take a more liberal approach? International cast also includes Sienna Guillory and Joaquim De Almeida. Based on true events, and the novel by Juan Cobos Wilkins.
