Quiet Chaos

Film exec Pietro (Nanni Moretti) faces tragedy when his wife dies in a freak accident. Now left with a ten-year-old daughter to raise alone, he takes the dramatic decision to wait outside her school, all day, every day, until she emerges from the building. Meanwhile, film folk trying to work with him must now come and meet him, sitting outside the school in his car. More often found behind the camera, Moretti brings a nuanced complexity to a character learning to grieve in his own unique way. Based on a novel by Sandro Veronesi, the film was nominated for a staggering 18 David di Donatello Awards, the Italian equivalent of the Oscars.
