Fanfan la Tulipe

Set in 18th-century France, this romantic farce stars Gerard Philipe as the charming peasant Fanfan. After joining King Louis XV's army in order to avoid an arranged marriage, he sets off on a fantastic adventure that allows him to grow close to a beautiful phony fortune teller named Adeline (Gina Lollobrigida). Along the way, he gets involved in plenty of madcap antics.
