Walter Huston made his final screen appearance in director Anthony Mann's moody Western melodrama, playing a landowner in the 1870s New Mexico Territory eager to bequeath his property to daughter Barbara Stanwyck, as long as she marries the "proper" man. When Stanwyck falls for gambler Wendell Corey, whose father was killed by Huston, the old rancher takes a desperate step. Gilbert Roland, Judith Anderson co-star.
