A sincere adaptation of Margaret Laurence's novel, spanning the life of Hagar (Ellen Burstyn), a feisty 90-year-old who, when taken to look at rest homes by her son, decides it's time for her last great adventure and sets off to find the seaside home of her childhood. With her head always ruling her heart, Hagar reflects back on some of her decisions with a mixture of regret and resignation. Through her recollections we come to know a passionate and rebellious young bride, her love for her two sons, the freedoms she claimed, and the joys she denied herself. Ellen Page, Cole Hauser and Kevin Zegers co-star, along with newcomer Christine Horne who plays the young Hagar.
