Ponyo
Aka "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea". When five-year-old Sosuke finds a fish named Ponyo near his seaside home, they quickly become the best of friends. But the fish is more than she seems, she yearns to be human but her powerful sorcerer father wants her back in the ocean's depths. Legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki directs this charming tale of friendship, identity, and adventure under the sea. Miyazaki was inspired to create the film after viewing Disney's animated version of "The Little Mermaid", itself based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.
