The Limits of Control

A lone man (Isaach De Bankole) travels to Spain on an important mission, the details of which are deftly obfuscated in this enigmatic film from writer/director Jim Jarmusch ("Down by Law"). As the stranger makes contact with other eccentrics (Gael Garcia Bernal, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, and others), the deployment of rituals, symbols, and other tantalizing inexplicables only deepens the mystery. His journey, paradoxically both intently focused and dreamlike, takes him not only across Spain but also through his own consciousness.
