The Founding of a Republic

Featuring (in roles large and small) a host of China's biggest films stars, this epic tells the story of post-WWII China and the troubles it faced. The rising Communist Party and the ruling KMT party fought bloody battles for control of the rapidly-changing country and through this turmoil Chairman Mao rose to power, with a dream of uniting a billion-strong population. A politically controversial film released to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the formation of the People's Republic of China.
