Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
Neither a strict remake of nor a sequel to Abel Ferrara's lurid 1992 crime drama, Werner Herzog's outrageous, blackly comic procedural is its own odd beast, following the drug-fueled meltdown of an officer (Nicolas Cage) on duty in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. As Cage wallows in the bliss of evil, he works a grisly murder case, abuses suspects, smokes his "lucky crack pipe," and sees phantom iguanas. With Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Xzibit, Brad Dourif, and Fairuza Balk.
