Blackmail / Murder!

'Blackmail' (1929): Hitchcock's first sound picture is the story of a young girl who stabs an artist to death in defense of her honour. Her boyfriend, a Scotland Yard detective, puts the clues together and decides to protect her. But then an unknown blackmailer comes on the scene, and the film builds to a tense, exciting climax. In 'Murder!' (1930), Diana (Norah Baring) is sentenced to death for the murder of a rival actress, but finds an ally in jury member and famous actor Sir John Meiner (Herbert Marshall). Sir John sets out to find the real murderer before the sentence can be carried out.
