The Crusades

The Crusades was certainly DeMille's own version of history and because of this, bore little resemblance to historic fact. This caused the critics to be brutal even though it was a box office success. Regardless, he had become the master of the screen epic and of the technique of weaving spectacle, sex, and inspiration together into a great story. Starring: Loretta Young, Henry Wilcoxon, C. Aubrey Smith, Katherine DeMille (his daughter) and Ian Keith.
