Filmmaker Florian Habicht returns to his home turf of Northland for "Land of the Long White Cloud", a follow-up in many ways to his 2004 documentary "Kaikohe Demolition". He and his camera wander along Ninety Mile Beach during the annual five day fishing competition, sitting down to natter with the gathered hopefuls, their lines in the water, often a beer in hand and a pearl of wisdom at the ready. It's a gentle delight this film, as Habicht's subjects wax lyrical on everything from fishing to politics and the media. "A marvellous celebration of our land and people" - Herald on Sunday.
