Lol ( Laughing Out Loud )
In text-speak, LOL means "laughing out loud", but in this case it is also the nickname of fifteen year old Lola, who lives with her mum, Anne. When Lol is reunited with her boyfriend after the summer holidays, he blithely tells her he slept with someone else over the break. Lol responds to this news as any self-respecting modern girl would: she says that she too was unfaithful, dumps his sorry ass and starts cosying up to their mutual best friend, Mael. As her ex becomes nasty, her flirtation with Mael reaches boiling point, and the school trip to England looms ever closer, Lol begins to wonder if she'll make it through year ten in one piece! To complicate matters even further, Lol finds out that her mum and dad have secretly rekindled their relationship - it seems that Lol and Anne have a lot in common, if they would only confide in each other.
