Tomahawk

Jim Bridger (Van Heflin), noted scout, attends the 1866 Laramie, Wyoming, meeting between Sioux chiefs and four Commissioners for Indian Affairs, to protest building the Bozeman Trail wagon road through the Sioux hunting grounds. Bridger, accompanied by his scouting pal Sol Beckworth (Jack Oakie) and a young Cheyenne Indian girl, Monahseetah (Susan Cabot), reveals to Col. Carrington (Preston Foster) that the building of an Army fort near Powder River constitutes the breaking of a treaty with Red Cloud (John War Eagle). Based on real events, this enthralling adventure was directed by George Sherman ('War Arrow').
