Eccentricities of a Blond-Haired Girl

This lyrical drama delivered by centenarian director Manoel de Oliveira takes its narrative cues from a 19th-century short story from Portuguese writer Eca de Queiros, the tale of a young man traveling by train and relating the sad account of his failed romantic pursuit of a lovely blonde girl. After his infatuation costs him his job and reputation, the thwarted suitor tries to restore himself as a desirable prospect. Ricardo Trepa, Catarina Wallenstein star.
