Arctic

Following the six-month Polar summer - across Siberia, Greenland, Alaska, Canada, Russia and Norway - Bruce Parry ("Amazon") immerses himself in the remote communities of the Arctic. Living and working alongside the indigenous people, he reveals how their culture and ancient traditions stand on the brink of change. Despite freezing temperatures, Bruce hurls himself with typical gusto into his odyssey: racing topless up a mountain; hunting walrus; having his aura cleansed with a horsehair whisk; wearing polar bear hide; being bucked by a reindeer and eating a seal's eyeball. But as his epic journey brings him side by side with reindeer herders, Siberian shaman, Inuit hunters, modern-day gold-diggers, Inupiak Eskimos and scientists mapping the ever-shrinking ice cap, Bruce discovers how global warming, territory-grabbing superpowers and the encroachment of the modern world is threatening the fascinating way of life of the Arctic people.
