Francesco's Mediterranean Voyage

Francesco da Mosto - Venetian architect, historian and TV presenter journeys from Venice to Istanbul, to the cities and islands where Western civilisation was born. Following in the wake of his ancestor, the explorer Alvise da Mosto, Francesco da Mosto sets out in a late 19th century schooner across the Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean seas to visit spectacular ruins and sacred sites of the ancient world. Ancient history and bygone legends intertwine as Francesco visits wonderful ancient sites such as the Acropolis in Athens and the Lycian Tombs in Turkey; explores the breathtaking islands of the Cyclades; sacred places like the Selimiye Mosque; and the beautiful city of Dubrovnik (destroyed and rebuilt in the last decade). Bringing the past vividly to life, Francesco takes viewers on a thrilling cultural odyssey as he captures the customs, flavours, history and legends of each fascinating location.
