Nolan (Robin Williams) lives a highly routine life, barely making conversation with wife Joy (Kathy Baker) while working a dreary day job as a loan officer. Keeping a low profile, Nolan is being prepped for a major advancement at work, pressured by bank manager Beaumont (Henry Haggard) to set up a special dinner as his interview. However, Nolan doesnt show much interest in his world, electing to drive aimlessly at night, where he meets Leo (Roberto Aguire), a teen prostitute. Embarking on a friendship of sorts, Leo and Nolan meet secretly for therapeutic conversations, giving the lonely husband an opportunity to purge concerns about his domestic situation and time with his elderly father, whos dying in a nursing home. However, as Nolan falls deeper into commitment to Leo, his lies fail to cover his tracks, with Joy and best friend Winston (Bob Odenkirk) becoming aware of his deception.
