Animal Kingdom (Blu-ray)

When 'J's' (James Frecheville) druggie mother overdoses, the teenager is left with little choice but to move in with his grandmother, 'Smurf' (Jacki Weaver), the cold-hearted matriarch of a notorious Melbourne crime family. As 'J' becomes more and more ingrained in the family's ruthless culture, tensions between the family and the police explode, placing 'J' at the centre of a dangerous investigation for which there is no happy outcome. Powerful crime drama co-stars Ben Mendelsohn, Joel Edgerton and Guy Pearce. Exceptional feature debut for writer/director David Michod.
