Sam is a reclusive and complicated man whose only friend is George, the compassionate and well-intentioned manager of a downtrodden New York City hotel. Once a promising jazz musician, Sam now spends his nights secluded in a hotel room in an attempt to reconcile the death of his beloved wife Josephine until an unexpected visitor rushes into his room and locks herself in his bathroom.
