Director Robert Zemeckis ('The Polar Express') again pushes the boundaries of film animation in this visually stunning take on the oldest of English tales. In ancient times the heroic Beowulf fights off the monstrous Grendel, a dragon and the advances of a vengeful she-demon in a classic tale of human frailtes and (more importantly) kings, swords and battles. A-Listers including Ray Winstone, Angelina Jolie and Anthony Hopkins lend their voice and likeness to the ancient characters.
