Lawman

Burt Lancaster heads a first-rate cast in this solid, leisurely paced western as a marshal who travels to a neighbouring town to bring in seven cowpokes on a charge of murder. As Lancaster tracks the mostly law-abiding men, he battles with vigilante citizens, and comes to question his inflexible allegience to the letter of the law. Robert Ryan plays the impotent town sheriff who reluctantly aids Lancaster.
