Edmond O'Brien plays a travelling salesman who gets horny in Los Angeles and picks up lonely cook Ida Lupino (in the only film she ever directed herself). When she announces her pregnancy, they marry. The only problem is that O'Brien already has a wife in San Francisco (Joan Fontaine).
