All Quiet on the Western Front

A remarkably good remake of the 1930 classic anti-war film telling of the experiences of a group of raw recruits in the German trenches of W.W.I. Ernest Borgnine gives one of his finest performances as a world-weary and cynical sergeant whose job is to mould these recruits into a competent force. With Richard Thomas, Ian Holm, Donald Pleasence.
