The Old Man and the Sea (Quinn)

Ernest Hemingway's celebrated story receives a stirring translation as Anthony Quinn plays Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman who takes to the sea in desperation after having caught no fish for 84 days. Far out in the depths of the Gulf Stream he is caught up in relentless and agonising battle with a giant marlin. Captured in this moving tale of one fisherman's spiritual journey is the importance of having courage and faith when all else seems bleak. Beautiful cinematography and stunning scenery make this epic film a sheer pleasure to watch.
