After a stroke (suffered while trying to halt a robbery) leaves him partially paralysed, New York security guard Robert De Niro gets speech therapy through singing lessons from an unlikely teacher; his upstairs neighbour, brash drag queen Philip Seymour Hoffman. The grudging friendship that builds between the mismatched pair fuels this heartfelt tale from writer/director Joel Schumacher.
