The Civil War

Director Ken Burns' ('Jazz', 'Frank Lloyd Wright') most acclaimed documentary series is a comprehensive chronicle of the American Civil War. Over eleven hours of captivating viewing traces the course of the war from the abolitionist movement, through all the major battles, to the death of President Lincoln and the beginnings of Reconstruction. Told mostly in the words of the participants themselves, through their diaries, letters, and the use of still photographs, illustrations and the music of the period. Five years in the making and the winner of more than forty major film and television awards including two Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards and the Lincoln Prize.
