The Signalman

Charles Dickens' chilling tale of a haunted railway track. The signalman at a lonely country station is haunted by a spectre warning of an impending train crash, whilst an anonymous traveller tries to rationalise the supernatural. This BBC adaptation superbly captures the unsettling atmosphere of its source material in a quality production suffused with dread, almost buckling under the weight of impending doom. Denholm Elliot and Bernard Lloyd star.
