What I Have Written

Sorel's relationship with her husband Christopher seems to be on the brink of recovery, after a period of almost total alienation, when she receives the news that Christopher has had a stroke from which he's not expected to recover. As he lies in a coma, Sorel is given the manuscript of a novella, secretly written by Christopher and delivered to her by her husband's friend and university colleague, Jeremy. She is shocked to discover not only that the story is a barely disguised account of the breakdown of their marriage, but that it reveals her husband was engaged in an affair with Frances, a woman they recently met in Paris. As she reads the manuscript her imagination gives shape to its darkly erotic text and she is in turn enthralled, shocked and humiliated. "One of the most mature, multi-layered and sexiest films to have come out of Australia...a brave and considered drama." - Screen International.
