The Singing Detective
This feature version of Dennis Potter's 1986 mini-series stars Robert Downey, Jr. as a pulp fiction novelist who, while suffering from a painful skin ailment in a Los Angeles hospital in the 1950s, looks back on his life and fantasizes about the characters in his first novel. Mel Gibson plays the psychiatrist trying to help heal him, and Robin Wright Penn, Jeremy Northam, Katie Holmes, Adrien Brody, and Carla Gugino co-star; features a music score that includes 'At the Hop', 'Mr. Sandman' and 'It's All in the Game'.
