1953 New Zealand. Elizabeth Wakefield (Sally Andrews) is a 13 year old with a dream. She wants the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth to visit her Waikato home town. So she writes letters every day to Buckingham Palace and gets Middleton on the Queen's tour map! The town goes crazy. A local woman's committee takes control of the visit and decide in their wisdom that an elderly Maori resident, Hira Mata (Vicky Haughton), with good reasons to resent the British Monarchy must be moved on. Elizabeth sees through this selfish effort and fights to save her new friend from their clutches. This is a touching drama for all ages. "One of the best family films ever." - San Francisco Examiner.
