The Bird People In China

Set in the beautiful Yunnan Province of China, a comically lyrical story of a Tokyo salaryman and a Yakuza debt collector on the trail of a lucrative jade vein. Instead they find a blue-eyed woman teaching children to fly with wings of bamboo and paper. Famous for his slice 'em dice 'em horror/thrillers, Takashi Miike is no slave to genre; this is visually stunning and characteristically quirky from one of Japan's stand-out directors.
