Ring: The Spiral

This 1998 sequel, shot back to back with 'Ring', was originally screened as a double bill. It begins with Takayama's body being examined by his pathologist friend Dr. Andou. Finding a cryptic note in the stomach, Andou investigates and learns of the mysterious haunted videotape. Despondent over the death of his own child, and believing his friend's ghost is guiding him, Andou disregards the rumours and watches the video for himself. But the tape's malevolent spirit has different plans in store for him. Based on the novels by Koji Suzuki, when this film was panned 'Ring 2' was made as a 'replacement' sequel.
