Head-On

Two desperate Turkish immigrants in Hamburg, Sibel and Cahit, meet at a psychiatrist's. She needs to escape her conservative family; he's a heavy drinker with no particular future. After a quick marriage of convenience, Sibel celebrates her new freedom with unfettered debauchery while Cahit carries on his relationship with a hair stylist. German-born Turkish filmmaker Fatih Akin wrote and directed this funny-sad, explicit, searing drama; winner of the Golden Bear at 2004's Berlin Film Festival.
