Comedian Denis Leary was the engine behind this post 9/11 New York fire-fighting drama. He not only stars in, but co-created and co-wrote the series. He's convincing as the go-to guy whose own life is falling apart at the seams. Unafraid of the dark side, the first season tackles divorce, alcoholism, homophobia, male bonding, not to mention what to do when dead people keep popping up out of the blue. Fast-paced, gritty and not without a few laughs.
