The Bird with the Crystal Plumage

After witnessing an attempted murder, American writer Sam Dalmas (Tony Musante) decides to stay in Italy to help the police with their enquiries. He and his girlfriend (Suzy Kendall) do a little detective work of their own, but just who is hunting who becomes unclear in this intelligent, slick murder mystery that broke director Dario Argento onto the international stage, making him a name to watch, though it is much less gory than his subsequent films. Based on an obscure pulp novel from 1950 called 'Bird', and reminiscent of the works of Hitchcock and Dashiell Hammett.
