Fury

Fritz Lang's first American film after fleeing Nazi Germany is a perceptive indictment of the mob mentality when lynchings were still a grim fact of life in the US. Spencer Tracy is Joe, a man wrongly accused of a kidnapping when he drives into a small town. As he awaits his trial rumours spread and soon an angry mob deliver their own brand of justice. Sylvia Sidney plays his tormented fiance in this gripping drama, as affecting today as it was in 1936.
