The Sweeney: Series 1
John Thaw and Dennis Waterman started out in this gritty, genre-inventing London crime drama. Carter and Regan are two uncompromising coppers on the organized crime beat. Changing the face of television drama, these crimebusters weren't averse to busting heads too, though always with a witty one-liner thrown in. The name refers to the cockney rhyming slang for the Metropolitan Police division known as the Flying Squad - Sweeney Todd.
