Remington Steele: Season 1
Laura Holt is a female private detective in an all-male racket, so to beef up business she invents a male boss, Remington Steele. However when her imaginary boss actually turns up, she has more to worry about than just paying the bills. Originally meant only as a comic foil to Stephanie Zimbalist, Steele became so popular, his role was fleshed out. Pierce Brosnan secured his future position as Bond with this slick, movie-loving crime-solver, though ironically the show became so popular, after rumours he would be offered 007, that his extended TV obligations meant he temporarily lost Bond to Timothy Dalton.
