The Pursuit of Happyness

Will Smith delivers an earnest and raw performance, alongside his real-life son, Jaden, in this rousing true story of Chris Gardner, a single dad who becomes jobless, and homeless, in 1980s San Francisco. But this underdog story has a happy ending, and they let you know it up front. There is no false suspense, but instead an engrossing, and undoubtedly all-American, story about one man who refuses to give up on his dream. Will Smith was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his heart-wrenching performance. The real Chris Gardner, now a self-made millionaire, served as a producer and also makes a cameo appearance, near the end of the film.
