Three Dollars

Sophomore effort from Aussie director Robert Connolly re-teams him with David Wenham ('The Bank') who plays Eddie, a public servant and father to six-year-old Abby, married to the arty and opinionated Tanya (Frances O'Connor), who unexpectedly loses her job. Based on Elliot Perlman's popular novel, this film explores the difficulty of maintaining a family in a society that prioritises corporate economic development over the well-being of its citizens. A perceptive and well-drawn portrait of a modern marriage and the struggle to find next week's mortgage payment.
