Royal Flash

Based on the second novel in George MacDonald Fraser's Harry Flashman series, this spirited, swashbuckling comedy from director Richard Lester features Malcolm McDowell as the eponymous 19th-century rapscallion. Flashman's desire to penetrate the upper echelon of European society catches the attention of a pair of scheming politicos (Oliver Reed and Alan Bates) who hatch an ill-conceived plot to have him pose as a Prussian nobleman, putting him in line to wed a beautiful duchess (Britt Ekland). Co-starring Joss Ackland, Alistair Sim and Bob Hoskins
