Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing

In March 2003, the Dixie Chicks were at the height of their popularity as the most commercially successful girl group in history. On the eve of America's invasion of Iraq the Texas-born singer, Natalie Mains, made an off-the-cuff statement while the band were touring in England, "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas". This spontaneous quip would have major fall-out in the US, with the band's records being banned on many radio stations, and protests and death threats plaguing them. This astonishing documentary follows them as they weather the storm, and record their fight-back album, 'Taking The Long Way'.
